The golden city of Prague, known as the ‘Mother of Cities’, is the
capital of the Czech Republic. It has been the location for human
evolution, with the earliest traces of civilization in the regions
dating back to the 2 billion years ago. The city has emerged from the
shackles of the Iron Curtain to become a cultural and historical
landmark in the world.
The foremost feature of Prague history is its architecture, which has
managed to survive the world wars. It is a splendid mix of styles from
various eras ranging from the Renaissance to the Ultra-modern and has
always succeeded in charming visitors with its beauty. Many of the
historic buildings were preserved when the city was declared a World
Heritage Site in 1992, however visitors can experience history in the
building that have been converted into hotels. The most popular among
them is the Residence Nosticova, a small three-star hotel made up of ten
self-contained apartments. The Nosticova is located in a 17th century
building and boasts of perhaps the world most fastidious service. Other
hotels on the list include the Domus Balthasar and the Questenberk, both
of which have amazing stories to tell.
About eighty hotels in Prague have been classified as luxury hotels with
every imaginable amenity for visitor comfort, from spas and gyms to
conference rooms and Internet access. The international star rating is
the best way to ascertain the luxury status of hotels in Prague. Many
online travel companies also have their own rating system based on
customer reviews of the hotel’s service, amenities and price. These
online companies in certain cases also provide customer testimonials,
which can be useful for first time travelers to Prague as they include
first-hand information and experiences. The major percentage of
Prague’s lodging options is unrated, but these small obscure hotels
and guesthouses offer great comfort at moderate prices. Reviews on these
hotels might not be available online but every website can recommend at
least a few of them.
