Traveling to a foreign country always requires you to be alert and careful all the time. Being unfamiliar to most of the things there, you often feel under-confident and conscious to take decisions. Take help of travel guides. Many good guides are available online. They include Lonely Planet, National Geographic and Frommer’s. Visit them and collect information about a place of your interest.
Many-a-times, tourism companies give out special offers. They include staying in a luxury hotel, fooding, transportation, sight-seeing and many more at subsidized prices. Look for one for the place of your choice in Australia. Who know when luck comes to favor you?
You are traveling to a foreign country. There can be situations when you need to get in touch with your relatives and friends. Or you might just feel like doing so. You can do it at much cheaper prices through Internet. So, do check out if the hotel you are planning to stay in has Wi-Fi connectivity.
To further help yourself, download travel apps onto your Blackberry, iPad, iPhone or Windows OS or Andriod smart phone before you leave home. Tourism Australia allows tourists to search for information on hotels, sights, events, and the likes.
Australia is known for its extreme UV indexes. They are so high that more people die due to exposure to sun’s rays than meeting with a car accident. Pack loads of high SPF sunscreen. Also, consider purchasing UV block-clothing. These would ensure a safe touring to Australia.

I love Frommer’s guides and this one delivers. I’m planning an independent trip for 4 to Australia and this guide has helped me tremedously in preparing an itinerary and negotiating and understanding travel to and within Australia. I’ve used it in company with Lonely Planet Sydney encounter and find I have more useful recommendations on hotels and itineraries in Frommers. I use both to work out the places to see and places to eat but I turn to Frommers for an understanding of what I may like to see and do. I may be tempted by the high end suggestions, but it is helping me find the budget options that fit my travel expectations. I’m an over 50 traveler who likes to find value and comfort — even if you have to pay a bit more for it. I will choose high end accomodations if I can get it at slightly more than a budget option — but I will choose a budget option if it promises a unique experience. I prefer boutique hotels and B&Bs over international chains and I’ll dine anywhere there is good food value or a unique experience. I’ve dined in (and enjoyed) the Eiffel Tower, but also at a Rick Steve’s suggested cafeteria in Stockholm. Frommers Australia 2011 helped me understand my options so I am making informed choices.
